Who is eligible to go study in an American university?

After obtaining your high school diploma (general, professional or technological), CESS for Belgium, or having already validated a DEUG a license, a BTS or a DUT, the doors of American universities are not very far. In fact, every student who meets the following conditions can apply to join a university and obtain a sports scholarship, at the beginning of the month of August and January.

What diplomas can be obtained in American universities?

There are 4 types of diplomas in the USA: Associate, Bachelor, Master, PH.D. For each degree, you are completely free to choose your orientation: business, science, medicine, management … The vast majority of diplomas obtained in American universities are recognized throughout the world.

Associate’s Degree

This is the first level of higher education in the United States. It is obtained from Community Colleges, just before entering university. The duration of the courses is 2 years with general courses. Its main advantage is that it allows you to apprehend and prepare before entering university and gradually familiarizing yourself with English.

Bachelor’s Degree

The most popular of all American university degrees, the Bachelor is recognized all over the world. It is ideal for sports students who can focus on their studies and their sport. A range of courses is offered in the 4 year cycle of the Bachelor.

Master’s Degree

In the continuity of the Bachelor, the Master allows students to continue their specialization. Equivalence similar to French Masters, its recognition is international as well. Generally over 2 years, it can nevertheless be done in an accelerated manner if the student decides to take on more hours of courses per semester than the mandatory minimum.

PH.D

The PhD is the equivalent of the Doctorate, it is the last stage of the American university system. It takes 4 years of study after the Bachelor to validate it. It is essential to become a Professor, a Lawyer, or a Doctor …

Daily Life

On campus, everything is designed to simplify your life. Each campus is similar to a larger or smaller city with all the necessary amenities. It is whithin the interest for the university to put you in the best conditions in order to succeed your course.
It goes without saying that on all campuses you will find the essential infrastructures such as: libraries, infirmaries, relaxation areas, coffee shops, museums … Sports facilities are not left out and may surprise you with their professional quality: gym, cryotherapy, baths… The supervising staff is usually composed of professionals: coaches, physical trainers, mental trainers, physiotherapists, doctors …

Many students also live on campus, in university residences. Most of the time, you share an apartment with one or more roommates, it is the ideal opportunity to meet new people.

During your moments of relaxation (outside classes and sports training), you can take advantage of the activities offered to students: student associations, travels, fraternities. It is strongly advised to follow the university football and baseball teams and attend their match which sometimes attracts more than 80,000 spectators.
